What's New at UBH

March 2008

  • REGISTERED USERS: Changes are coming to ubhonline! At the end of April 2008, ubhonline will be consolidating all online transactions for both United Behavioral Health and PacifiCare Behavioral Health members under a single set of online transactions. This enhancement completes the integration of both UBH and PBH from a provider portal perspective. At the time of this enhancement, ubhonline registered users will be presented with a single set of online transactions that will function for all your UBH and PBH patients. This simplication will streamline the online process and eliminate differences in the transactions and how they work. Over time, we will phase out the old user IDs assigned from PacifiCare. Therefore, if you do not have a ubhonline User ID, you will want to obtain one. Please use the Contact Us link if you have any questions or problems, to contact the ubhonline Support Center via phone or Live Chat. Thank you for your patience over this period of integration of our portal functionality. We will continue to improve our service to you in the future.

  • ATTENTION CLINICIANS SUBMITTING CLAIMS VIA EDI OR ON PAPER: REMEMBER TO SUBMIT CLAIMS WITH A 5TH DIGIT ON THE DIAGNOSIS CODE! UBH Claims Examiners have found that claims are often denied payment because the 5th digit of the diagnosis code has been omitted from the claim form. Though not all diagnoses contain a 5th digit, for those diagnoses that do, it should be included on the claims form. Without the 5th digit, the claim is automatically denied by the UBH claims system. Consequently, the claim is returned to you with the denial code “549.” So when you are submitting claims electronically via EDI, or if you submit on paper, please include all five digits of the diagnosis code when submitting claims for payment on either the UB facility or CMS 1500 forms. This will help to avoid future claim denials.
  • Do you have patients with Spanish as their primary language? Liveandworkwell’s new sister site MenteSana-CuerpoSano.com (Healthy Minds-Healthy Bodies) provides Spanish mental health and substance abuse information and resources. The Spanish site provides resources to the public in addition to UBH members so you can refer any Spanish-speaking patient to MenteSana-CuerpoSano.com. UBH members may get additional resources with their company Access Code.
  • REMINDER TO NETWORK PROVIDERS: United Medical Resources (UMR) is a United Healthcare Company. UMR is a national leader in the TPA (third party administrator) health plan business, providing healthcare coverage to 300,000 employees across the country. UMR joined the UnitedHealth Group family in 2006, and in 2007 began utilizing the UBH network to provide in-network behavioral health services for 166,000 members covered by their TPA benefit plans. What this means for you as a UBH network provider:
    • UMR member ID cards will reference UMR as a United Healthcare company utilizing the United Health Networks (which includes UBH)
    • If you have questions about a UMR enrollee’s coverage, please contact UMR directly by calling the number on the enrollee’s health insurance ID card.
    • You should submit your claims for UMR clients directly to UMR, as indicated on the enrollee’s ID card.
    • UMR will be making payment on your claims at your UBH contracted rates.
    • As a UBH contracted provider, you may not balance bill clients who have a benefit through UMR.

We are excited to have UMR join the UnitedHealth Group family and we appreciate the high quality care you provide to all of our customers.

  • “Fly-Out” Menus make ubhonline even more user-friendly! We have incorporated the "resource center" menu into the navigation links found on the left side of the ubhonline pages. You will no longer find the "resource center" in the upper right corner of ubhonline pages. We did this to make it easier and faster to find things like forms, guidelines, and other resources you may need. It also helps you see more deeply into the details without actually navigating to the next page — saving you time. Now, by moving your cursor over the main headings on the left side of the page, you will find menus that "fly out" — giving you more details, much quicker, at your fingertips. Try it! We hope you find this navigation intuitive and user-friendly. We appreciate any comments or feedback through an e-ail to ubhonline@uhc.com or through our online survey comments.
  • Transitioning Benefits from EAP to MH/ SA — For transition of benefits from EAP to MH/SA services, you may request an open certification online using our new Certification Request feature, providing convenient and faster processing. Or, you may print and complete the BTN form, found in our Forms pages, returning it by fax or mail as indicated on the form.
